Honey Pot Hill Orchards has been a cherished part of Stow since 1926, when Clifford Martin founded it as a 70-acre all-purpose farm. Over nearly a century, this family operation has grown and evolved into a 186-acre farm specializing in apples, peaches, blueberries, and a few other small crops. The farm has remained in the Martin family for four generations, transforming from its humble beginnings into a beloved fall tradition that has earned recognition as New England's best.
Today, the farm is led by father-daughter duo Andrew and Chelcie Martin, who continue the family legacy with passion and dedication. Chelcie joined the family business full-time in 2014 after studying agriculture at UMass Amherst, bringing fresh perspective to complement Andrew's lifelong experience growing up and working on the farm. Together, they manage all aspects of the operation, from hands-on orchard work like pruning and thinning fruit to overseeing business operations and community engagement.
The Martins have built their reputation on more than just exceptional fruit. They hire over 100 seasonal staff annually, including students and long-time returning employees, creating a vibrant community workspace. Known for their cider, donuts, apples, and on-site hard cider made from homegrown apples that are grown, pressed, fermented, and kegged right on the farm, Honey Pot Hill embodies local sustainability and craftsmanship. As Chelcie puts it, "We love to grow good fruit. It's our thing." Their commitment to quality and community has made them a cornerstone of the local agricultural landscape, where visitors can experience authentic farm life through pick-your-own activities, farm events, and the genuine hospitality of a family that truly loves what they do.
