Honey

About the Farm

However Wild Honey is a family-owned and operated apiary and beekeeping supply company in Shaftsbury, Vermont. The business began over 20 years ago with Jim and Gail Howe and their son Adam. The family hand-drew the artwork for their first raw honey label, which they continue to use today. The operation is now run by Adam Howe and his wife Ashley, who both returned to Vermont after college.

Their raw Vermont wildflower honey is sustainably and ecologically produced in the foothills of the Green Mountains. Honey is extracted twice a year -- a spring harvest (including nectars from honeysuckle, locust, linden, and buckthorn) and a fall harvest (goldenrod, asters, and knotweed). The fall honey crystallizes to a butter-like consistency about a month after bottling. The honey is unheated and unfiltered. In addition to honey, Ashley has developed a natural skincare line using honey and beeswax, including deodorants, hand creams, salves, lotion bars, soaps, and paw wax for pets. The farm also sells nucleus colonies, mated queen bees, and beekeeping equipment as an authorized Mann Lake dealer. Products are available at co-ops, health food stores, and other retailers across Southern Vermont and western Massachusetts.
