About the Farm

Jones Family Farms is a seven-generation family farm nestled in the hills of Shelton, Connecticut. The farm’s story began in the 1850s with Philip James Jones, a man whose timeless words—“Be good to the land and the land will be good to you”—continue to guide every generation of Jones farmers today. From these humble beginnings, the Jones family has stewarded the land with passion, care, and an unwavering commitment to community.

In the decades that followed, each generation left its own mark—most notably Terry Jones, who returned to the farm in the mid-20th century and introduced strawberries as a new crop. Known lovingly as the “perfect fruit,” strawberries became a beloved summer tradition for thousands of families across the region. Over time, the farm expanded its offerings to include blueberries, pumpkins, Christmas trees, and a celebrated winery, creating a full calendar of harvest experiences that honor both the land and the people who cherish it.

Beyond its crops, Jones Family Farms is a living embodiment of sustainable farming. Every field is tended with environmental care—utilizing cover crops, composting, integrated pest management, and even no-till practices to preserve and improve soil health. Whether it’s the greenhouse blooming in spring, children planting sunflowers in July, or families bundled in December searching for the perfect tree, every season at Jones Family Farms is rooted in love for the earth and a deep respect for its heritage. The Jones family invites all who visit to be good to the land—and to one another.
