Kiss the Cow Farm began with Randy's childhood memories of working on dairy farms during summer breaks. Neither Randy nor his wife Lisa grew up in farming families, making their journey into agriculture an unexpected turn. When they got their first cow, they moved the cars out of their garage to house the animal, with Lisa calling their setup the 'Lego Barn' because they constantly reconfigured it to accommodate pigs, chickens, calves, and more cows.
As their operation grew with three rescue heifers, the couple needed more space and relocated to a nearby dairy farm that had recently closed. They now share this historic farmland with a vegetable farm and beef farmer, all united by a common vision to preserve the land and make it accessible to future generations of aspiring farmers. The almost 500-acre property was recently purchased by the Vermont Land Trust, bringing their preservation goals closer to reality.
Today, Randy and Lisa operate a grass-based, organic certified dairy that produces raw milk and ice cream, along with pasture-raised eggs, broilers, ducks, and turkeys. Their Jersey cows provide the foundation for their dream of creating high-quality, artisan ice cream and cheese through value-added processing. As Randy explains their motivation, farming represents a way of life for the couple, driven by their desire to make and sell good food to friends and neighbors in their community.
