About the Farm

Nestled in Wilton, New Hampshire, Ledge Top Farm, affectionately known as "The Ledge," has been cultivating the land since 1978. What began as a modest venture on less than three acres of mostly forested land has evolved into a thriving organic operation. The farm's journey through the decades tells a story of adaptation and growth, from raising pigs and turkeys in the early 1980s to operating a pick-your-own raspberry field through the mid-80s and 90s. After eighteen years of raspberry production, the focus shifted entirely to vegetable cultivation, marking a new chapter in the farm's agricultural evolution.

Under the stewardship of owner Tom Mitchell, Ledge Top Farm has expanded to include three greenhouses and three seasonal high tunnels at the Wilton location, with a portable cooler added in 2012 and a new packing house built in 2018. The farm has embraced modern sustainable practices, adopting no-till growing techniques and grow bags to enhance production while preserving soil integrity. In a testament to their commitment to sustainability, the farm achieved complete energy independence with 16 KW of solar power supplying all electrical needs.

Ledge Top Farm operates on unwavering principles of organic cultivation, following all National Organic Practices despite not being state-certified. Their philosophy centers on chemical-free, sustainable agriculture, using beneficial organisms, natural amendments like compost, alfalfa meal, and kelp meal, and reducing tillage to preserve soil microbial life. The farm produces over 106 varieties of fruits and vegetables on nearly one acre of growing space, selling exclusively what they grow themselves through farmers markets in Milford, Peterborough, and Bedford, as well as through their innovative "You Decide" CSA program that allows customers complete customization of their produce selections.
