Maple Syrup

About the Farm

Makin Maple is a fourth generation Vermont sugarmaking operation rooted in the traditions of the Northeast Kingdom. The farm's story begins with grandfather, whose legacy of maple syrup production has been carefully passed down through the generations. Chris Parker, known simply as "Dad," grew up immersed in this agricultural heritage, where farming and logging were a way of life and sugaring season marked the most anticipated time of year.

For Chris, the craft began with cherished childhood memories of being bundled up to ride into the woods with his grandfather, helping to set buckets for sap collection. These formative experiences shaped his deep connection to the land and the artisanal process of maple syrup production. Now, as an adult with his own son Alex, Chris has the opportunity to continue this treasured family tradition, passing the knowledge and passion for sugarmaking to yet another generation.

Makin Maple operates as a small batch artisanal producer, emphasizing quality over quantity in their approach to maple syrup creation. The Parkers understand that while modern tools have made the process more efficient, there remains no substitute for the experience and careful attention of a Vermont artisan. They control every aspect they can in the syrup-making process, from regulating boil times and temperatures to maintaining consistency, recognizing that these factors directly impact the flavor, color, and clarity of their final product. Each limited batch they produce is unique and irreplaceable, reflecting their commitment to traditional Vermont sugarmaking excellence.
