Moonlight Farm was established in 2013 and is lovingly run by Megan Glennon, Aidan Davin and their two young boys Toby and Toryn. Their love story began in 2011 when Aidan met Megan at the first farm where she worked. He had been farming for 11 years and went to college for agriculture, while she was a vegetarian learning the ropes from this veteran livestock farmer. Despite their unlikely pairing, Aidan took a chance on Megan, teaching her daily and putting her in charge of a 5-acre vegetable field. By her second year, she had earned her keep working from sun up to sundown, and Aidan began letting her do her own farmer's markets under her own business name.
The farm's journey has been one of steady growth and adaptation. Starting with vegetables on a 4-acre spot in Ashby in 2014, they expanded through droughts, pregnancies, and changing markets. Toby joined as a "rookie farmer" in September 2015, followed by brother Toryn in September 2017. The farm diversified over the years, introducing pork sales in 2016, meat birds in 2018, and beef through a partnership in Petersham in 2019. A pivotal moment came in 2020 when they acquired their current 70-acre property in Ashburnham, closing in April just as the world was dealing with the pandemic.
Moonlight Farm specializes in pasture raised chicken and duck eggs, Off 'Cides vegetables, and humanely raised poultry, using 100% natural growing methods with no pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or chemicals whatsoever. Their commitment goes beyond organic certification, believing the label has become a marketing strategy that still allows synthetic pesticides. Instead, they focus on providing the freshest, most nutrient-packed vegetables and eggs, hand-picked, hand-washed, and hand-packed within 24 hours of distribution. Their mission extends to supporting local communities, strengthening small-town economies, and reducing families' carbon footprints while allowing their animals to perform natural behaviors without limitation.
