Muddy Boots Maple is a small-scale family-owned business nestled in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire, where they pride themselves on making the highest quality maple products possible. What began as a fun adventure among friends in 2012 quickly transformed into a passionate pursuit when the owner caught the sugaring bug during that first season of tapping trees and making syrup.
The journey from hobbyist to serious maple producer has been one of continuous growth and innovation. After starting with turkey fryers and propane, the operation evolved to include a homemade pan crafted with help from the owner's father-in-law and an arch created from an old oil tank. By 2016, with the support of friends and family, they erected a timber frame sugarhouse perfectly suited to their expanding operation, processing sap from nearly 500 trees on a two-by-four evaporator before upgrading to a wood fire two-by-eight evaporator capable of handling sixty-five gallons of sap per hour.
The growth trajectory has been remarkable, with production expanding from those initial few trees to processing sap from 850 trees by 2022, marking their best season to date. As they look toward the future, Muddy Boots Maple stands ready for their next chapter, having acquired new equipment and expanded their sugarhouse to accommodate the opportunity to add another three thousand taps to their operation, demonstrating their commitment to bringing pure New Hampshire maple products to an ever-growing community of maple enthusiasts.
