North Tabor Farm is a small, diverse family farm on Martha's Vineyard, owned and operated by Rebecca Miller and Matthew Dix since 1994. The couple purchased the six-acre parcel on North Road in Chilmark after their business plan beat out nine other applicants for a special affordable housing lot with farming potential. Rebecca grew up in suburban Connecticut with no farming background but was eager to learn; Matthew was raised on a farm in Vermont. Together they became early leaders in the Island's small-farm movement, long before farm-to-table was trendy.

North Tabor is perhaps best known for its gourmet baby salad mix -- growing over 400 pounds of greens a year including mustard greens, bok choy, and baby kale -- and its shiitake mushrooms. The farm also produces specialty vegetables, cut flowers, blueberries from roughly 300 bushes, pastured and organically fed chickens, and heritage turkeys for Thanksgiving. Their daughter Ruby Dix now serves as head farmer and manager, overseeing daily operations. The farm stand offers produce from the fields along with prepared foods, and the farm hosts private tours, farm dinners partnered with island chefs, and pizza nights using their brick oven. North Tabor supplies many Island restaurants and markets, and the family mentors young farmers contemplating agriculture as a career.
