Our Family Legacy Farm represents the convergence of two farming families deeply rooted in the Massachusetts agricultural tradition. In 2018, Cliff and Natalie Spatcher purchased their farm, choosing to return to their agricultural heritage as they began building a family of their own. Their decision wasn't just about continuing a business, but about preserving a way of life that had shaped both their childhoods.
Natalie's farming legacy runs through multiple generations and properties. She grew up immersed in the demanding rhythm of farm life at Gardner Farms in Montague, where her parents operated their business and where she spent countless summer days picking cucumbers and working tobacco fields under the blazing sun. Her connection to the land deepened through her grandparents, Walter and Lena Garbiel, who owned one of Montague's most beloved farming operations over several decades. Today, Garbiel Farms continues under the stewardship of her uncle Karl, maintaining the family's respected place in the community.
Cliff brings his own agricultural heritage from Leyden, where his parents operate Spatcher Farm, renowned for their succulent blueberries and vibrant selection of flowers and vegetable starts. Together, Cliff and Natalie have transformed their purchased property from a vacant building into a working farm, installing windows, doors, siding, insulation, and electricity. Their operation has become known for fresh asparagus grown right on the property, alongside offering propane at competitive prices and seasonal attractions that bring the community together.
