The Schartner Farm story begins in 1902 when Julius Schartner emigrated from Austria and settled in Bolton, Massachusetts, establishing what would become a multigenerational agricultural legacy. What started as a dairy operation has evolved over more than a century into a thriving fruits and vegetable farm, with the fourth generation currently at the helm while the fifth generation prepares to carry the tradition forward.

In 2006, the Schartner family made a pivotal decision to preserve their agricultural heritage by partnering with the Town of Bolton and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to establish an Agricultural Preservation Restriction on their land. This designation protected the farm from development pressures and ensured that future generations of the Schartner family could continue farming the same soil that their great-grandfather once cultivated.

Today, Schartner Farm operates as a true family enterprise, welcoming visitors to experience the authentic farm life that has sustained the family for generations. The farm encourages guests to bring picnics and spend leisurely days among the orchards and hayfields, while also providing access to the Bolton Loop Trail for those seeking hiking adventures through the property.
