Founded in 1985 by Chris Staehly, Staehly Farm began as a simple cut-your-own Christmas tree operation nestled in East Haddam, Connecticut. Over the years, the farm steadily grew, evolving into a vibrant year-round business. By the early 2000s, greenhouses and a farm stand had been added, marking the farm’s expansion into new crops and deeper community offerings.
In 2014, Staehly Farm entered an exciting new chapter with the launch of its farm winery. Specializing in premium fruit wines crafted from their own orchards, the winery reflects a deep commitment to quality and tradition. The tasting room on Town Street and the Yankee Cider Barn Tap Room on adjacent Petticoat Lane offer guests a warm, rustic setting to enjoy the fruits of the farm — literally — through wine and hard cider.
Today, Staehly Farm & Winery remains a true family-run business, operated by Chris, his wife Gail, and their son Kevin. The Staehlys have built more than a farm; they’ve created a legacy of dedicated farming, thoughtful expansion, and community spirit that honors the rhythms of the seasons and the pleasures of agricultural life.
