About the Farm

Tonn’s Marketplace is a vibrant, family-run farm and market in Burlington, Connecticut, proudly rooted in three generations of agricultural tradition. Founded over fifty years ago by Herbert and Arlene Tonn, the farm began as a humble roadside stand offering strawberries and soon flourished into a beloved community staple. Herbert cleared the land by hand, planted the earliest fruit trees, and built a greenhouse, setting the foundation for a legacy of fresh produce and heartfelt service that continues today.

Throughout the decades, the Tonn family has remained steadfast in their dedication to the land and their community. As the farm expanded into Terryville and began attending weekly farmers markets, it became a full-fledged family affair, with siblings and children pitching in. The late Paul Tonn, known for his tireless work ethic and deep love of farming, was instrumental in keeping the operation alive through challenging times. Today, his legacy is lovingly carried forward by Jordan and Aubri Tonn, along with their daughter Sienna, who warmly welcomes guests as they arrive at the bustling Marketplace.

Tonn’s Marketplace is more than just a farm—it’s a destination. With greenhouses bursting with tomatoes, orchards offering pick-your-own peaches and apples, and fields filled with crisp vegetables, the farm invites visitors to experience the richness of Connecticut agriculture firsthand. The addition of Farmstead Ice Cream, a concert stage, and a variety of community events including yoga, seasonal festivals, and holiday celebrations make Tonn’s a dynamic hub of food, family, and fun. Recognized as the Best Farm Stand in Connecticut for five years running, Tonn’s Marketplace continues to honor its roots while growing joyfully into the future.
