Winter Street Farm is a family owned and operated small scale organic farm nestled in Claremont, New Hampshire. Jonathan and Abby, the dedicated farmers behind this venture, each bring over a decade of farming experience to their land. Their journey began as humble volunteers and WWOOFers before they advanced to managing organic farms throughout New England, ultimately purchasing their own land in Claremont in 2019.
What started as a small, community oriented CSA has blossomed into a certified organic, no-till vegetable production farm that now feeds 150 families through a year-round CSA program. The farm also operates a seasonal public farmstand and provides on-site community composting services. Jonathan and Abby met in 2015 at a Northeast Organic Farmers Association summer conference, and their shared passion for sustainable agriculture has driven their mission ever since.
At Winter Street Farm, the approach extends beyond simple vegetable production to embrace a larger ecological and community philosophy. The farmers believe that no two vegetables are the same and that what we eat matters for ourselves and our future. They focus on producing nutrient dense, freshly harvested vegetables from healthy plants grown in soil rich in organic matter. Using innovative farming practices such as no-till methods, green energy production, and ecological systems, they demonstrate that small farms and communities can make a significant difference. Their commitment extends to working with local schools for educational content, partnering with the Claremont Soup Kitchen to provide access to healthy fresh produce, and participating in programs like the NOFA-NH Farm Share program to offer subsidized share options to make their high-quality produce accessible to a wider range of community members.
